Picking the right bridesmaid dresses can make or break your wedding day. Picture the reams of photos of you looking divine in something delightfully elegant and ivory. Yet, no matter how hard you try it seems you can’t help being drawn to the monstrous maroon/burgundy abominations in the form of bridesmaid dresses that engulf no, actually swallow up you and your husband in said pictures. The lady in the shop insisted they’d perfectly complement your dress. It appears she might just have been saying that, when it really wasn’t the case at all. And the more you think about it, the more it occurs to you that it probably wasn’t a coincidence that the bridal shop had all seven of these dresses in stock, in all the required sizes you asked for. Alarm bells should be ringing if a bridal shop can deliver on such a quantity of bridesmaid dresses so easily.
So, if you don’t want to make a mistake that will come back to haunt you every time you so much as look at the spines of those wedding photo albums on the bookshelves, then careful consideration should be put into choosing your bridesmaid dresses. Make sure there’s a united front between you and the ‘chosen ones’. You want there to be a consensus between you and your bridesmaids on the dresses. Should there be trouble in the bridesmaid ranks, you’ll find it only serves to add unwanted stress and agony to proceedings-get everyone on side from the start! Get a style that might not necessarily be identical for each dress, but that flatters each bridesmaid as much as possible. Make sure to avoid stylistic changes in each dress that are too noticeable, or your bridesmaids will just look like unfortunates who’ve all come to the wedding in the same dress. Aside from the crucial issue of making sure the dresses complement you, you need to make sure they look right for time of year.
After much deliberation, we can only say that a foolproof bridesmaid dress style that will work no matter the wedding type or time is something delicate and romantic. Something subtle and feminine- think petals adorning the centre (which is you) of a flower, (okay the metaphor’s a bit cheesy but you get the idea). Whimsical bridesmaid dresses in soft fabrics, with delicate details that are just eye-catching enough, yet not too distracting, will create the perfect springboard for which all gasps as you walk down the aisle, will be directed at you and how fabulous you look in your dress. Romantic bridesmaid dresses will keep your bridesmaids on the right side of sexy, adding femininity and less of the raunch factor (overegging the bridesmaid dress pudding a la P-Middy).
