Faye says: I got married a year ago. When I was planning my wedding I was so disappointed to see that even toning up in time was going to be expensive. A nutritionist and a personal trainer can be pricey and the costs were adding up. That’s when this idea came to me. I decided to set up a business that could offer both services - personalised to my clients - without breaking the bank. Here are some tips from the experts on my team:

 

  • Aim to drink 8 glasses of water or at least a litre and a half every day. It's crucial for good skin, hair, nails and also helps to encourage weight loss. It's so simple and yet so effective!
  • Eat at least one portion of oily fish a week. Try salmon, mackerel or sardines. They're packed full of omega-3 fatty acids that help to keep skin healthy and firm.
  • Prevent last-minute breakouts by eating plenty of brightly-coloured fruits and vegetables. Try apricots, red peppers and peaches. They are packed full of Vitamins C and A to promote new skin cells and prevent blemishes.
  • Cut down on the booze. Alcohol is highly calorific, especially beer and wine. If you can't bear to cut it out altogether, try to cut back during the week and then have a glass at the weekend. Don't be tempted to binge though - you'll just undo all your good work during the week.
  • Set yourself realistic goals. 1-2 lbs a week is healthy weight loss. When our clients are doing well, they can lose a stone in 8 weeks. So if you want to shape up, get started right away and you'll have your best shot at reaching your target.
  • Dance! No, we're not kidding. Shut the curtains and crank up the music. You can burn 300 calories in a half-hour boogie.
  • Lift weights. Even little ones. 3-5 lbs is a good start if you're a beginner. Weights compliment weight loss by giving your newly discovered muscles extra definition.
  • And try some yoga. It's great for stress-busting and helping kick start your metabolism. If you do a 10 minute session every morning, it will encourage greater weight loss.
