A wedding abroad can make your big day even more special, and can even save money as not only will you have less guests attending, but it ties in your honeymoon too! The key is to research, research, research so you know which of your wedding ideas are reasonable and which are pipe dreams. Here are some helpful tips for you to keep in mind while deciding where to hold your wedding abroad.

Weddings abroad are perfect for couples that just want to have an intimate and quiet day with close family and a few friends. It also allows the couple to avoid asking certain people to the wedding who they would otherwise feel obligated to invite! It is because of this that your wedding abroad can potentially be cheaper than a wedding at home. If you have a smaller guest list, you are almost guaranteed to save on the overall costs.
Keep in mind that there will be more risks when holding your wedding abroad, but as long as you plan everything carefully everything should work out fine.
The biggest problem (or solution in some cases) with having a wedding abroad is that you will not be able to invite everyone. This is why it is best to keep in mind that there may be some people you really want to make it to your wedding, who won’t be able to. If you have relatives who are unable to travel, don’t be surprised that they may be a little upset that you have decided to have your wedding abroad. If this becomes too big of a problem, just reassure everyone that you will have a second celebration after you get back.
Remember though, that even if you manage to save money on the initial wedding itself, if you were to put on a second reception in the UK you could end up paying as much or more than if you had just had it at home.
Not only can this second reception set back your wallet, you also will have to do a little extra work to plan these additional celebrations. However, this will help you alleviate the feeling of your wedding passing by so quickly. These additional celebrations could very well be just as memorable as your wedding day itself, and give you even more opportunity to celebrate with your significant other!
No matter where you decide on having your wedding abroad, make sure it is firstly a destination that you both agree on, but also both of your families as well. You want to celebrate this day with the people who mean the most to you and it just wouldn’t be the same if they weren’t able to make it. As long as everyone you want to be there can make it and everything seems to be in order, having your wedding abroad could be the perfect decision!
Climate is an important factor when choosing a destination as this affects your wardrobe, hair, food and flower decisions. For example, your dress will need to be lighter to travel with and to wear in a hot climate – no meringues please. And we beg of you, don’t get caught out with frizzy hair in a humid climate like Monica in ‘Friends’.
Of course the positives of a foreign climate are that you can enjoy exciting fresh food when abroad, get a tan and have a holiday around the big day. This will ensure that you are healthy, happ and relaxed in time for the wedding. Assuming you don’t forget the sunblock and end up with a red face for the wedding photos – we don’t need to tell you this is a big no-no. Do we?!!!! your wedding abroad should be perfect.
